On the morning of Saturday, April 25, I woke up with a start as the alarm went off. The first thing that came to my mind was my workshop. Yes, today I, along with my sister Zainab, was going to conduct a workshop for kids on Blogging. I had been thinking and planning this workshop for weeks. I had prepared the handouts, which were six pages long, containing ‘Steps for making a blog, posting, and commenting on it’, ‘Guidelines for smart blogging’, my article, ‘The Importance of Commenting on a Child’s Blog’, an article Zainab and I wrote; ‘Why should you have your blog and what can you do on it’, and a recommended blog list containing links of mine and my friends blogs. I and Zainab had also made a presentation for the workshop. The workshop was supposed to begin at ten. It started on time with twelve participants. The age group was ten till fourteen years. I started the workshop, by first introducing myself, followed by a round of introduction of the participants. They had...
This is a narrative essay that I wrote yesterday. The topic was: Write a story which includes the sentence: 'Right! That's it! You have been late too often.' Now I'm not really that good at writing stories and narratives, so this might not be as good the previous essays. I'm ready to welcome any feedback\constructive criticism, so feel free to leave a comment. Thank you, and happy reading! :) Seema woke up at six am, as her alarm clock went off. Seema was a college student and the youngest of four siblings. Her elder siblings were married and well-settled, and her father had died a few years ago. That only left Seema to care for her weak, ailing mother, juggling her r...
This morning I had my last O level Chemistry exam. While going through my books for one more time a few hours before the paper, I was swept by a wave of emotion as I realized that after today, I wouldn't be reading them again. My favourite way of dealing with all sorts of emotions is to write about them, so before long I was writing a letter to Chemistry. It may sound weird, but well, that's the way it is. So here you go. Dear Chemistry, I’m gonna miss you. Today is my last O level Chemistry paper, and believe me when I say I will miss you. The ten months we spent together were a quite enriched experience for me. From knowing almost nothing about Chemistry, I have now acquired an understanding of and an appreciation for it. You were never as boring as Physics or as difficult as geography. In fact, you were quite interesting and made sense – at least most of the time. The concepts and formulas you taught me were logically appealing and were things I could easily re...
