Changes I would like to see in my country five years ahead

Hi readers! Here's another one of those essays that I mentioned I'd be sharing in here. This one was written on 12th April, 2016. The topic is mentioned below. Comments, feedback, and suggestions are very welcome! :)

What changes would you like to see take place in your country in the next five years?

Everything has some space for improvement, to strive to make it better, if not perfect. There are many changes that I would like to see take place in my homeland for it to improve.

Firstly, I would like to see my country cleaner. The garbage disposal system of many places in Sindh, especially Karachi, which is the provincial capital, needs to be regenerated. The bio-degradable waste needs to be sorted and tackled accordingly, and the recyclable waste recycled. This change would not only be a relief to the common people, but also improve the country’s outlook.

Secondly, I would like to see Pakistan greener than it already is. Although the province of Punjab, and Kashmir are full of natural greenery due to their rich, fertile soil, many places in the rest of the country are not so rich with this natural treasure. I would like to see the rest of the country cultivated and cropped as well. This would be advantageous to the eco-system, as well as be a bonus to the economy, by providing additional crops.

It is heart- wrenching to see little children begging on the streets of our country. Five years later –or earlier- I wish that none of those children would beg anymore. I would like the children of our country to be well-educated and respectable people.

Five years later, I would like to see our country’s economy more stable. The basics, like food, clothing, and shelter, be available to every person. The prices of necessities should be affordable for the average man. I would like to see every citizen’s basic rights addressed appropriately.

These changes and improvements, if they take place, would definitely make our country a better place. They would prove beneficial, not only for us, but also for the future generations to come.

  1. I love your language style so much!! :D It's nice to see how you've arranged each topic into new paragraphs as an effective presentational device! And I absolutely agree with what you've written in this essay. You're right; there's always, always space for improvement, no matter how good/bad a country. :D It's nice to see that you've injected true facts into this piece too - it really helps to get across the message! The garbage disposal system is definitely a major problem and so are issues with the eco-system. :/ It's sad to hear that little children are still begging on the street! D: I totally agree - it would be so much better if they had the advantage of an education! I'm sure (and hoping!) that these improvements will be made soon in Pakistan! After all, your country is improving gradually isn't it? :D (alas, the UK is going downhill on the other hand! xD) While people have advantages here in the UK though (like free education, no child labour, etc.) we no longer have a beautiful country like you do! (Just housing estates after housing estates and lots of rain and pollution. >.<) So there will always be the advantages/disadvantages I guess! xD This is a wonderful piece of work, Fatima! Keep writing! <3

    1. Gosh thank you! :D Yeah, the whole system desperately needs improvement. I hope so too. Yes, it is improving gradually, but I believe it needs to speed up! I suppose you're right that there will always be advantages and disadvantages of any place you live in. (Besides, I guess we're never satisfied and happy with whatever we have! :\ )

      Thank you!

    2. Actually the thing is that we are not satisfied with the improvement we have done since last five years. We need to be satisfied with the achievement that we have achieved from the last five years. For example after 5 years if the people of the country gets their basic necessities and all the things mentioned above, gradually after time passes our expectation and greed increase much more.
So the point is that we need to look after us and our financial economy.
Fine piece written great job Fatima.

    3. You are right, in a way, that we need to thankful and happy with the resources we have in our country. However, our country, despite being over 70 years since independence, has hardly improved. I think we need to accept and acknowledge the fact that there are plenty of problems that we're facing, so that we can actually start solving them. After all, being patriotic Pakistanis, we do have plenty of hopes and dreams associated with Pakistan, and we'd sure like it to be in a better state.
      Thanks!

  2. It's really refreshing to hear a teenager dream of a better future for her home country and its people rather than preoccupy herself with the newest Iphone model, masha'Allah. As unlikely as it is that any of these changes will come to fruition within 5 years of your wish, this should not deter us from working for the changes we want to see happen. And, in my opinion, the single most important thing to start with is raising awareness, sharing knowledge and educating ourselves and others about the problems that we identify. Doing our research on what has caused the problems and on possible solutions and putting that information out there can have an immense impact on future actions, insha'Allah.

    1. Thank you very much! Yes, you're are right as it seems very unlikely that these changes will come into being within five years, but that should not stop us from working to get these things in action.
      Thanks.

  6. Hi Fatima! Very good essay you have written. I was writing on the same topic you have written right now so I thought I may check how other people have written. My father has recently started a school in Karachi. It's name is "The Lab School". It supports a different point of view from other schools and it's the first of it's kind in Pakistan. I am also a student there and I would appreciate it if you could check up on the school and share it. Do visit if interested. Thank you.
