The Importance of Commenting on a Child's blog

In the 21st century, when the use of social media is on its peak, a child making his\her blog to share his\her writings and other work with the world is definitely something to appreciate and encourage.

So, how can we encourage young children to keep on blogging?

It takes just a few words of encouragement in the form of a comment to make a young blogger happy.

I recently got to know how many people visit my blog. At a program a couple of months back, several people told me that they regularly visited my blog and read all my writings. My Dad had told them about my blog. I was really surprised; I didn't think that anyone other than my immediate family and close friends visited my blog at all.

I said; “Really? I had no idea! How would I know that you’re visiting my blog? You should comment on it, so I’d know.” (By the way, I didn't get any comments from those people even after telling them this)

So, my point is, you've got to comment on a kid’s blog to tell him\her that ‘I’m here to read your writings, please continue to put things on your blog. I enjoy looking at your work.

You cannot imagine how happy I become when I post an article I wrote on my blog and find a couple of comments on it a few days later. This makes me feel that someone is there to read my writings.

So if you visit my blog or any other kid’s blog regularly and do not comment, please think of sharing a few words about the post by commenting on it.

Thank you

  1. I totally agree with you! I think it's also useful to look at the stats, although there's one problem, that you might not know if it's you viewing your own blog, rather than your friends. I've asked so many people to view my blog now, but they just don't bother. Or either they have, but don't want to comment. One of my cousins did I suppose, but that was a long time ago from now... If it weren't for you, Zainab, Natural-Horses (on Scratch) and LiFaytheGoblin (on Scratch) I probably wouldn't have as much courage to post anymore! <:) So I've got to thank you, honestly. Hopefully we'll both find a way of how to get people to look and comment on our blogs & posts. ^^ (I also post on G+)

    1. You're right. But you can't really rely on stats to know how many people have been reading your writings. Sometimes, people just follow us on email and they read the email sent from our blog. When they can read the post on their emails, they don't bother to go on the blog at all. So sometimes people are just reading our posts, without going on our blog, so we don't even get to know if they're reading at all or not.
And you are the most regular reader and comment on my blog!! :) Thanks for taking the time to comment on all my writings. If it hadn't been for all your comments, I wonder if I'd be blogging at all. 8D Thanks again!!

    2. Oh yeah, that's true, actually; I hadn't thought of that. Although it *could* work for me, because you're my only follower, so I know no-one else receives the updates. XD You're welcome! I enjoy looking at your posts. :D

    3. How do you know I'm following you? Is there a place where you can get to know this? I searched so much in the stats (and everywhere else!) to find out who's following me by email but I couldn't get to know!

    4. When you're on the Google homepage (google.com), click on the square-ish button on the right of "Images". Then click on the Blogger icon, somewhere in the list. You'll come to the Blogger Dashboard. I know you're following me, because at the end of the 5 Star Writers section, it has a hyperlink called "1 follower". Soo... that's it! :) Otherwise, there's a faster way if you copy and paste this into the search bar: https://www.blogger.com/home

    5. https://www.blogger.com/manage-blogs-following.g - here's another thing I just found out now.

    6. So you're right! You don't even have to look at the blog (so that it goes in the stats). You could either be a follower (by email), or a follower on the Blogger homepage (https://www.blogger.com/manage-blogs-following.g). Fyi, you have 3 followers.

    7. Thanks for telling me this, but... hang on! The second link you gave opened a page with a list of the blogs I'm following in my reading list. And by going to the dashboard and clicking the link that says 3 followers (or whatever the number of followers), it shows a list of followers, but I don't think that these are the people that are following us by email. For example, I know for sure that my mom and dad are following my blog by email. So is Azka. But it doesn't show this. I don't think we can see the feedburner stats!

      Thanks for telling me anyway!

    8. No problem! You can follow people's blogs anonymously via the reading list, but if you're following by email, it won't be in your reading list followers, I think... Did you check the dashboard, www.blogger.com/home, and did it have a hyperlink with the amount of followers you had? If so, click on that link.

  2. Not only kids but elders also need a word of appreciation for their work which will boost their spirits and they will keep up the good work.

  3. Fatima! I really enjoyed the way you share your feelings.
Feedback and comments from others also help us to know others' perspective too, so it would add another aspect in our work and I think it gives us a learning opportunity.

  4. Readers, I hope you don't perceive my writing wrong, I understand that sometimes people do not have enough time to comment. I am always happy to know if someone has visited my blog and read my work.
This post was mot meant to make people feel sorry for not commenting, or anything like that. It was just meant to tell you the Importance of commenting on a child's blog.

    Thank you
