My food character!

Hi everyone! I recently made a project on Scratch , remixed it actually. There was tag going on, to make your own food character. Someone started it, and tagged five others, who had to remix it with their own food character. Then those five tagged five more, and so on. Kenza , tagged me a few days ago; someone had tagged her. I'm sharing my food character that I made on paint. Below is my project. To see my project on Scratch, go here .

My Workshop Announced!

Image
Hello Readers! I haven't posted much recently, as I was very busy with a few things. One of them is that I will actually be conducting a workshop soon! Yes, really, I and my sister Zainab, will together be conducting a workshop for kids aged ten till fourteen years. (And I'm still thirteen!) So I was busy in planning it, making handouts, and thinking about it. Below is the flyer, which I and Zainab made on Powerpoint; my father edited it. It is also shared on ERDC's facebook page . Thanks.

Short Story~The Storm

Here is a story that I wrote recently on a topic of a past O level paper. Please keep in mind while reading it that this is the third draft  of the story. Feedback would be taken seriously and appreciated. An instantaneous splash of water landing on the deck woke up the sailor. He leapt out of bed and hurried up to the deck, hoping that all was well. The situation was worse than he had anticipated. It was raining cats and dogs, accompanied by a very strong gale. The roar of thunder indicated the beginning of a storm. The bottom of the ship was already flooded about six inches deep with water and its level was increasing with the rain. The sailor quickly rang the siren for help and grabbed some buckets. Sleepy-eyed men came out of their cabins to help and he directed them towards the flooded area, where he handed out buckets and yelled out instructions. His voice was barely audible over the heavy rain and thunder, but they seemed to understand. They went to work at once, ...

One year since I started blogging!

Hello Everyone! I've just realized! It's been a year since I started blogging! I am so... excited -for apparently no reason! I made my blog on 12th March, 2014. I published two posts that day. They were two of my poems; Siblings  and Desserts . Then I started blogging regularly - well, not so regularly. I have 37 published posts on my blog from 12th March, 2014 till 11th March, 2015, which averages to about three posts each month - which is not too much, but still, something's better than nothing! And I have made sure to post something each month, so there's no month in these twelve months when I haven't published any post.  I do try to post as often as I can, whenever I create anything worth posting. In these twelve months on blogger, I have: Created a blog Published thirty-six posts on it Gotten 207 comments on it (including my own replies) Made an About Me  and a Coming Soon page on it Had 2113 page views on it And a lot more! So than...

A poem about my Friends

Written on the behalf of Fatima(me), Zainab, and Ibraheem dedicated to our friends, Azka, Ayan, and Abiha You are the best friends we've ever had Please don't ever leave us, that'll make us sad All the lovely memories include you and us You're the ones whom we really really trust Two is a couple, three is a crowd But together we're six, (and really loud!) Remember the day we went together to a park? All squashed up in a car, as happy as a lark! And the times we sat down to play Taboo Or hide and seek or just shouting Boo! The hundreds of times we've had lunch and dinner together All we haven't done yet is a great big sleepover! We meet you every week, and sometimes more often, And through letters and emails and chats now and then! Friends we are and friends we remain Till the last day, or till we're all slain.

Haiku

This is the first Haiku I ever wrote, hope you like it.  Driving me crazy Are the thoughts all around me Not letting me work! A haiku is a poem, consisting of three lines. It does not have to rhyme, instead it has a syllable pattern: The first line should have five syllables, the second should have seven, and the third line should have five syllables. I'll be putting more haiku on the blog soon, Insha Allah.

Dear Readers, Hi! First of all, I want to thank you all for reading my blog posts, following my blog, commenting on it, and more. Thank you very much! Below the header, there's a strip which says;  | Home | About Me | Coming Soon | The home page is the page where all my posts are and will continue to come. Make-up Art

Here are some drawings which I drew recently using my Mom's old eye makeup. Hope you like them. Thank you. This is a girl I drew. I made it with a pencil first and coloured it using eye shadow.  The one below is a Japanese girl. Does it look like one?  I made it the same way, first, a pencil sketch and then filled it in using the eye shadow. I used a dry paint brush to apply it. A Japanese Girl Materials I used Above is a picture of the Materials I used: Some old Eye  Shadow, a pencil, a dry paint brush, and also an  eraser (not shown in the picture).

The Importance of Commenting on a Child's blog

In the 21 st century, when the use of social media is on its peak, a child making his\her blog to share his\her writings and other work with the world is definitely something to appreciate and encourage. So, how can we encourage young children to keep on blogging? It takes just a few words of encouragement in the form of a comment to make a young blogger happy. I recently got to know how many people visit my blog. At a program a couple of months back, several people told me that they regularly visited my blog and read all my writings. My Dad had told them about my blog. I was really surprised; I  didn't  think that anyone other than my immediate family and close friends visited my blog at all. I said; “Really? I had no idea! How would I know that you’re visiting my blog? You should comment on it, so I’d know.” (By the way, I  didn't  get any comments from those people even after telling them this) So, my point is,  you've  got to ...

Death of a Sonnet writer, by Scott Ennis

Hello everyone, I read this sonnet some days ago, and I really liked it. It's a Shakespearean Sonnet, with fourteen lines, and ten syllables in each line. I kept thinking about it and repeating it continuously in my head, and I finally decided to put it on my blog. I found it here . It is written by Scott Ennis, a sonnet writer. He has written loads of sonnets. He turned the fourteenth glass and said, “Begin.” and I had fourteen minutes left to live; and I had fourteen unrepented sins, and fourteen people whom I would forgive, and fourteen unread books upon my shelf, and fourteen loves I knew I’d loved in vain, and fourteen dreams I’d kept within myself (the fourteen I’d most wanted to explain.) But fourteen minutes quickly passed away. I filled my pen with fourteen drops of ink- the fourteenth glass had offered one delay; and fourteen final grains retained the brink. This sonnet flowed like fourteen final breaths- the fourteenth line, the fourt...

Sonnet on 'Chess'

Here is a sonnet I wrote on 'Chess'. It's my first sonnet, hope you like it. And by the way, I've broken the rule of putting ten syllables in each line. I didn't know we had to and I had already written the whole sonnet before I found out the syllable restriction. I'm just posting it here anyway, but I promise to share a perfect sonnet soon! Chess is a wonderful game It causes you to think It isn't at all slow and lame And is over before you can blink It makes you think mathematically And you learn from different situations You have to use your brain, totally It's been played around for generations White is the opponent of black Black is the opponent of white There's plotting and killing between the white and black It's all a great big fight! But more than anything, chess is a challenge Where you have to show your revenge

Tone and Facial Expressions

These are the answers I wrote of some questions that were shared in Thinkers' Club. This is also shared on Thinkers' Club's blog , but I'm sharing them here too, because they are detailed answers that took me a long time to write. What is the role of tone and facial expressions in our communication? Our tone and facial expressions have a very important role in our communication. If a person really means what he or she is saying, their tone and facial expressions would match their words. For example, if I’m persuading someone to do something, my tone would be determined and I wouldn’t look angry or bored. But if I’m pretending to be nice to someone I actually hate, my fake smiles might even be detectable and my tone could even give the game away. Is it possible for a person to be fully responsible for his\her tone? In a way yes, and in another way, no. I think our tones depend on our mood and feelings at that moment. A person may sound unintentionally ru...
